History for the WEEK with Mr. Kaslon--   


Monday--  We started off the week filling out our planner and watching our Motivational Monday video.  For the rest of class we learned about the Cowboys and how we acquired the Oregon Territory.  We watched two short videos and took notes.    
   
Homework:    The Texas / Alamo Postcard Project is due Thursday, February 22nd. 

Tuesday--  Today we reviewed our Manifest Destiny objectives and finished the Oregon notes.  For the rest of class students got to play the old school Oregon Trail Hi-Def computer game.  To close we discussed the reasons, hardships, and accomplishments of the pioneers/homesteaders.  I checked the students progress on their Alamo postcard project.

Homework:  The Texas / Alamo Postcard Project is due on Thursday, February 22nd.  Students should begin studying their Manifest Destiny objectives in their history notebook to prepare for the Manifest Destiny test next week.

Wednesday--  Students were reminded that the Alamo postcard project is due tomorrow.  Students read about the War with Mexico and began filling out a history frame for the event.

Thursday--  The Texas/Alamo Postcard project was collected at the beginning of class.  We watched a video on the War with Mexico and highlighted important people, vocabulary, and events during the war.    

Homework:  The Texas / Alamo Postcard Project is due on Thursday, February 22nd.  Students should continue studying their Manifest Destiny objectives in their history notebook to prepare for the Manifest Destiny test next week. 

Friday--  We finished the last 10 minutes of the War with Mexico and discussed the final battle in Mexico City and the Battle at Chapultepec.  We also looked at some of the Chapultepec Art.  Finally, we went over the Terms of Surrender and closed on the Mexican Cession objective in our history notebook.      

Homework:  Students should continue to review their Manifest Destiny objective notes to prepare for the Manifest Destiny test next week.

9/21/17 Team 8-3 Homework Other items of importance: Parent-Teacher Conferences next Monday. Join us for "drop-in" times next Monday from 4 - 5:30 pm or sign up for an appointment  here  .    Science with Mrs. Brown--    Today we worked on identifying the characteristics of Red Giant, White Dwarf and Main Sequence stars using the stars luminosity and surface temperature.                                                                                                 Homework-      Finish answering the questions on the Comparing the Sun Activity question sheet.  Be sure to write in complete sentences. History with Mr. Kaslon--     We started by working on the Thomas Paine "Common Sense" assignment for 10 minutes.  For the rest of class we read the Declaration of Independence and talked about our class project on the Declaration of Independence.  Students were assigned 1 or 2 parts to rewrite and draw a picture for.  We will work on this in class for 30 minut
